1. Is there a PeeWee AAA Division?
No, the only AAA teams we have are Bantam AAA (Male and Female-1997,1996), Minor Midget AAA (Male-1995) and Midget AAA (Male and Female-1995,1994,1993). This also means that the only teams import players would be eligible to play on, would be those mentioned.
2. Besides the reg fee and the tryout fee, what other fees can be expected during the year with the association?
Additional fees will vary from team to team depending on how many extra activities they choose and how much fundraising they do. Registration fees cover one game per week and one practice per week averaged over the year. Anything over and above this, will be absorbed by the team. Most teams will participate in 4 tournaments over the season and often will pick up additional practice ice and/or exhibition games. Parents should expect to write a cheque, typically for $100-$300 (depending on the level) early in the season, to help cover initial start up costs before fundraising begins.
3. Are you guys still selling those coupon books, a friend told me about it and I would like to purchase one?
We are not doing any fundraising at this time. All teams have wrapped up for the 2009-2010 season, many fundraising initiatives will start up again in October.
4. What are the costs for a AAA Bantam tryouts and where do I get the forms?
The tryout fee for Bantam AAA $65.00. Registration forms can be found on our website under the forms tab or you can contact the office and we can arrange to send via fax, email or regular mail.
The tryout fee is $65.00 at any level regardless of where you enter the process (AAA,AA or A). There is no tryout fee, if registering for B or Rec only.
5. Why is a tryout fee necessary if I am only interested in playing Midget A?
Midget A falls under the Elite hockey stream and is still considered a "travel team". All players attend tryouts after the Midget AA and Midget 15. Players are selected for either Midget A+ (Tier 2 in North Central Hockey League) or for Midget A.
6. When and how do I register to tryout for the Midget AAA team?
Players register for Midget AAA, just as they would any other team in Red Deer Minor Hockey. Import players are eligible to tryout at this level. Players may register anytime up until September 1, but are encouraged to register as soon as possible, in order to allow organizers time to designate tryout groups and allocate necessary ice requirments.
If not selected for this team, first year Midget Players are permitted to tryout for Minor Midget AAA (Midget 15) and second and third year players are moved to Midget AA if a Red Deer resident and sent back to their home association if an import.
7. We registered our son already for the Atom A tryouts. He now wishes to try out for the Atom AA team. Can he still get in on that tryout since he has already paid a tryout fee?
The Atom AA and A players skate together for tryouts anyway. Just give our office a call and we can move him onto the AA list. The only additional fee will be upon making AA, as the registration fee is higher for AA and you would have only paid the first half for A.
8. How many imports are allowed on elite teams?
The maximum number of imports is dependant on the total number of players rostered to a team. If the a team is carrying 19 players, 9 import players (max) would be allowed. If the team carries 17 players, up to 7 import players would be allowed.
9. Are underage players permitted to tryout out for the level above?
Underage players are permitted to tryout for AAA (male and female), however a written request for permission stating the players name, age and reason for wishing to participate at the higher level is required prior to Sept 1 of each season.
10. When does the 5 year old hockey start?
The 5 year old program begins on Saturday in Mid October.
11. How do I know and when and where my son tryouts for BAAA are?
All tryout times and groups, with location are posted on the Website in mid August. Bantam AAA and Midget AAA tryouts always begin right around Labour Day long weekend. |
