Minor Hockey in Red Deer
All youth playing minor hockey in Red Deer participate in divisions administered by the RDMH Members, have developed four main divisions with each stressing different levels of objectives.
Initiation & Instructional
This division is designed to "initate the young player into the game of hockey by stressing fun, sportsmanship, equality and basic hockey skills. The 5 year old division is a hockey skill and skating development program, developed to enhance the basics of hockey. Participants in the 5 year old program should have the basics of skating. Dynamite division participants will play cross ice for most of the season. Participants are encouraged to try all positions - Forward, Defence, and Goaltending.
Average Ice Time 1hr/wk
Recreation
The importance of winning is de-emphasized in this division with basic hockey skills and the individual's physical development being the goal that is stressed. Intentional body contact is not allowed at the NOVICE or Atom levels in this division. This also includes tournaments and/or exhibition play whether they are in town or out of town.
Average Ice Time 1 Game and 1 Practice a week.
COMPETITIVE
This division is desinged for palyers who have the desire and ability to play at a high level of competition. Participants should be willing to invest a reasonable amoung of time training on and off the ice and be prepared for local league play with some limited travel. Body checking is a part of this division in Pee Wee and Bantam ONLY, not at Atom.
Average Ice Time 1 Game and 1 Practice a week
Elite
This division is for highly skilled players who are prepared to devote a great deal of time and commitment to their team. Elite teams can expect to be play at an intense and competitive level. Additional expenses and time commitments will be incurred.
1-2 Games and 1 Practice a week (Additional ice times to be picked at coaches discretion)
Female Hockey
Female Hockey will be offered dependant upong skill, ability, age and number of registrants. If girls want to play with the boys teams, they are permitted up until Bantam. If there are not enough girls registered in a program, the registration fee will be refunded.

REGISTRATION
The main goal for RDMH is to provide an opportunity to each and every youth in Red Deer to enjoy hockey at their level while keeping in mind the needs of all. RDMH is made up of any and all wishing to assist and participate.
To register a child for the upcoming season, a registration form must be completed along with the Parent Agreement form. No registrations will be accepted without the Parent Agreement. Registrations forms can be obtained from this website, the RDMH office, or online.
50% of the registration fee is due at the time of registering along with any applicable tryout fee. The balance of your child's registration is due by October 31st. Reminders and invoices will not be sent out.
Failure to register your child on time, could result in your child being placed on a waiting list until a space becomes available.
As per Hockey Canada and Hockey Alberta regulations, you must play hockey at the center in which you reside, or that closest to your residence address that offers a program,your home association does not.

PARTICIPATION FEE
For each program, at every level, there is a participation fee. This feel will cover costs, inlcuding but not limited to; Hockey Alberta dues and insurance, League fees, Equipment, Ice costs, Programs, Mentorship Programs, Team Pictures, Administration, Wind Up, Referee costs, and the Building Fund. The participation fee is based on the normal schedule of events for the upcoming season. Additional fund raising may or may not be required depending on the age level and divisions. Such fund raising would be for items such a travel, extra ice, or team apparel. Details of such fundraising and all financial matters may be obtained by calling RDMH.
IMPORTANT NOTES
All participants registered by May 31st, are guaranteed a place to play.
Payments made after May 31st and October 31st deadlines will incur ad additional $25.00 charge. Failure to make the final payment on time, may result in your child being suspended until payment is received.
When registering a 50% deposit is required at the time of registering plus the tryout fee is applicable.
ALL imports will be charged an additional registration fee of $300.00 upon making the team.
All NSF cheques will be subject to a $25.00 charge.
REFUND POLICY - NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN AFTER OCTOBER 15TH. Refunds prior to October 15th, will be assessed an administrative feel of $25.00.
TRYOUT FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
EVALUATIONS & TRYOUTS
Evalution sessions of the registrants ability will be held for ALL Divisions. Following these sessions, registrants will be assigned to the Division that best suits his/her ability. RDMH will endeavor to provide opporutnities for every youth if at all feasible.
TOURNAMENTS
Teams are permitted to enter a maximum of 4 Tournaments per season.
VOLUNTEERS
The success of any organization such as RDMH is dependant upon volunteers. We have all benefited in our lives because of the work of volunteers. Volunteers are required for a wide number of responsibilites. Not only experienced coaches are needed. Many other positions also exist. Please contact RDMH if you wish to volunteer in any way.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Every player taking part in any game or practice must be dressed in proper equipment. Proper equipment is deemed to be the following:
